Mechanical CAD Expert Position: Mechanical CAD Expert Type: Contractor Compensation: $40–$80/hour Location: Remote About the Opportunity micro1 is engaging Mechanical CAD Experts to contribute to a customer project focused on advanced engineering assemblies. You will apply your expertise in mechanical engineering, CAD, assembly analysis, and technical documentation to evaluate complex mechanical designs and create precise question-and-answer content that helps train next-generation AI systems. The role emphasizes technical accuracy, objective assessment, design intent, and the ability to translate complex engineering information into clear, well-structured technical content. Responsibilities Analyze multi-part mechanical assemblies provided in native FreeCAD files. Develop a thorough understanding of component relationships, assembly structures, and overall design intent. Create objective, precise, and non-guessable question-and-answer sets for assigned assemblies. Develop multiple detailed technical questions covering mechanical functions, design rationale, and dimensional considerations. Ensure each question and corresponding answer is unambiguous and technically accurate. Align questions and answers with real-world engineering standards and practices. Review assembly information carefully to ensure responses are supported by the available design data. Deliver high-quality technical content within agreed project requirements and timelines. Communicate clearly with project coordinators to clarify requirements and resolve ambiguities. Collaborate effectively with a distributed team through written and verbal communication. Required Qualifications Proven background in mechanical engineering, aerospace, industrial design, or a closely related field. Strong foundational and applied knowledge of CAD. Experience analyzing complex multi-part mechanical assemblies. Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical design information. Ability to understand component relationships and mechanical design intent. Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail. Ability to produce precise, objective, and technically accurate documentation. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently, manage deliverables, and meet project requirements remotely. Preferred Qualifications Hands-on experience with FreeCAD. Experience with SolidWorks, CATIA, Autodesk Inventor, or comparable CAD platforms. Experience working with advanced mechanical assemblies. Background in technical documentation, assessment creation, or engineering content development. Strong understanding of engineering standards and technical communication. Experience translating complex technical information for different audiences. Demonstrated ability to identify ambiguities and inconsistencies in engineering content. Strong time-management skills and experience working in distributed teams. Compensation $40–$80 per hour Contractor engagement Fully remote Project focused on mechanical CAD assembly analysis and AI training content Eligibility Candidates should have relevant expertise in mechanical engineering, aerospace, industrial design, or a related discipline. Strong CAD, mechanical assembly analysis, and engineering drawing interpretation skills are essential. Candidates should be comfortable working independently in a remote project environment.
