About The Role Systemex Automation is looking for an experienced Project Director to lead the successful delivery of large-scale automation and robotics projects and oversee strategic project execution within the organization. As a Project Director, you will provide senior-level leadership and oversight across the full project lifecycle, from initial planning and execution through commissioning and customer handover. You will be accountable for project performance, including scope, schedule, budget, quality, risk, resources, and customer satisfaction, while ensuring alignment with Systemex’s project governance framework and business objectives. Working closely with customers, executives, and multidisciplinary teams, you will provide direction, resolve complex challenges, and ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and profitably. Key Responsibilities Provide overall leadership and accountability for large-scale automation and robotics projects, ensuring alignment with business objectives, customer expectations, and project governance. Oversee project planning, execution, budgets, forecasts, schedules, resources, risks, and performance, taking corrective action when required. Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary teams across engineering, programming, production, purchasing, commissioning, sales, and other functions through matrix management. Act as a senior point of contact for customers, executives, and internal teams, managing expectations, resolving escalated issues, negotiating solutions, and building strong long-term relationships. Provide strategic direction on complex technical, operational, commercial, and project challenges throughout the project lifecycle. Oversee major project deliverables, including design, programming, specifications, assembly, commissioning, and technical documentation, ensuring quality and compliance with requirements. Monitor project profitability and performance, presenting forecasts, progress, risks, and strategic recommendations to senior management. Identify opportunities to improve project execution and develop additional business with existing customers while supporting the growth and development of Systemex’s project management capabilities. Qualifications 10+ years of progressive project management experience, including significant experience leading large, complex technical projects; automation, robotics, engineering, or industrial experience is highly valued. Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and large-scale projects, with strong financial, commercial, risk, schedule, and resource management capabilities. Strong executive presence with excellent leadership, negotiation, communication, presentation, and customer relationship management skills. Strategic, entrepreneurial, and results-oriented, with strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment. Proficiency in French is mandatory. Proficiency in English is also required in order to communicate effectively with internal clients and partners located outside of Quebec.
