Description Job Summary The UnionWare Developer is responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise-level solutions that support both client and internal business needs. This role operates within a task-based delivery model and requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, reliable software within defined timelines. Developers are accountable for end-to-end delivery of their work, including estimation, development, testing, and release readiness. Quality assurance is embedded within the development process, and developers are fully responsible for the quality of their output. Success in this role is defined by reliability of delivery, quality of work, accuracy of estimates, and contribution to overall team effectiveness. Developers are expected to exercise sound judgment, take ownership of outcomes, and contribute to a disciplined and accountable engineering environment. Role Context Developers operate within different delivery contexts (Product, Professional Services, and Client Experience). While core expectations remain consistent, priorities may vary. Requirements Development, Estimation & Delivery Design, develop, and maintain application functionality across full-stack technologies Write and test SQL code, including stored procedures, triggers, functions, and complex queries Enhance and maintain enterprise software written in VB.NET Develop and support web-based applications using ASP.NET, JavaScript, CSS, HTML5, and related technologies Configure software through database entries and custom scripts Provide accurate effort estimates and commit to delivery timelines during sprint planning Own assigned work end-to-end, from requirements clarification through to deployment readiness Deliver work within committed timelines and proactively communicate risks, delays, and trade-offs Troubleshoot and resolve defects, including identifying root causes and implementing preventative fixes Contribute to reducing technical debt through refactoring and improved design Embedded Quality & Standards Perform testing as part of development, including unit testing, integration testing, and validation of requirements Ensure delivered work meets acceptance criteria and is production-ready Take full accountability for the quality of delivered code, including post-release defects Follow established coding standards, security practices, and development guidelines Participate in peer code reviews and incorporate feedback to improve quality and consistency Contribute to technical documentation and internal knowledge bases Ensure work aligns with defined “Definition of Done” criteria prior to completion. Requirements and acceptance criteria are met Code has been reviewed and approved Appropriate testing has been completed No critical defects remain Documentation is updated where applicable Solution is ready for deployment Collaboration & Communication Work closely with Solutions Architects, Business Analysts, Account Managers, DevOps, and other team members Participate in agile ceremonies, including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, backlog refinement, and retrospectives Provide accurate input into estimation, prioritization, and planning discussions Communicate progress, risks, and blockers clearly and in a timely manner Collaborate across teams to ensure alignment on requirements, timelines, and expected outcomes Communicate with clients and stakeholders as required to verify requirements and confirm solutions Actively engage in discussions to clarify requirements and avoid rework or misalignment Operational Responsibility Support release activities, including deployment validation and post-release verification Assist in resolving production issues during business hours, as required Contribute to continuous improvement of development, estimation, and delivery practices Security & Data Responsibility Adhere to data security, privacy, and compliance standards in all development work Ensure proper handling of sensitive client and member data Identify and escalate potential security risks or vulnerabilities Follow secure coding practices and participate in remediation efforts when required Decision-making & Ownership Exercise judgement in solving technical problems within defined standards and guidelines Take ownership of solutions and outcomes rather than deferring decisions unnecessarily Escalate decisions when there is a material impact to scope, timelines or system integrity Continuous Improvement Identify inefficiencies in development, estimation, and delivery processes Contribute to improving team practices, tooling, and standards Apply learnings from past work to improve future outcomes Skills Strong problem-solving and analytical capabilities Effective communication and collaboration skills Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines Ability to estimate work with reasonable accuracy High level of accountability and ownership of outcomes Adaptability in a fast-paced, evolving environment TECHNICAL EXPECTATIONS Maintain working proficiency across the application stack Developer deeper expertise in specific areas as required by team needs Continuously build technical skills to support evolving technologies and platform direction PROFESSIONAL EXPECTATIONS Demonstrate reliability, accountability, and follow-through Engage constructively in team discussions and feedback processes Maintain a respectful and collaborative working environment MEASURES OF SUCCESS (HIGH-LEVEL) Performance in this role is evaluated based on: Reliability in meeting committed delivery timelines Accuracy and consistency of effort estimates Quality of delivered work, including low defect rates Effectiveness in collaborating and communicating with team members and stakeholders Contribution to team productivity, efficiency, and continuous improvement Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, or the equivalent coursework in a related specialized field in lieu of experience Proficiency in SQL, 18+ months experience is required Ability to successfully pass a SQL test provided during the interview process Experience in Microsoft .NET (VB and/or C# and/or ASP.NET Web Forms) is preferred Experience in JavaScript, CSS, HTML 5, and jQuery is preferred Experience with RESTful APIs is preferred Knowledge of Agile development methodology is preferred #TagSoftwareGroup Benefits Personal training plans and professional development. Requirements
Candidates must have a bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent and at least 18 months of proficiency in SQL. Experience with Microsoft .NET, web technologies (JavaScript, CSS, HTML5), and Agile methodologies is preferred.
