We are looking for individuals who thrive on making an impact and want the excitement of being on a team that wins. Job Description Principal FPGA Engineer – Advanced Industrial Imaging Systems Join a Teledyne Vision Solutions engineering team focused on high-performance industrial camera technology. In this role, you will shape the FPGA architecture strategy behind next-generation imaging products, balancing performance, cost, reliability, and scalability. If you enjoy leading technical direction, mentoring engineers, and solving complex digital design challenges, this is an opportunity to influence products from concept through production while collaborating with FPGA, firmware, hardware, and product teams across multiple sites. What you’ll do Define FPGA architecture strategy across industrial camera platforms. Lead and mentor a team of FPGA designers, providing technical guidance and coaching. Establish RTL standards, design methodologies, and reusable IP practices. Drive FPGA security features including bitstream protection and secure update support. Select FPGA devices and manage resource budgets to optimize cost, power, and longevity. Serve as the final technical authority for FPGA architecture decisions and firmware integration. Conduct design reviews covering RTL, schematics, pin assignments, memory maps, and interfaces. Lead FPGA build, release, automation, and regression infrastructure. Collaborate with product, manufacturing, supply chain, and engineering teams across sites. Evaluate emerging FPGA technologies, tools, and design approaches. What you need Required: Strong technical leadership, mentoring, and cross-functional collaboration skills. Required: Extensive FPGA development experience using VHDL and/or Verilog/System Verilog. Required: Expertise in simulation, synthesis, timing closure, CDC analysis, constraints, and verification. Required: Experience with AMD/Xilinx, Intel/Altera, or Microchip FPGA platforms and toolchains. Required: Proven FPGA/firmware integration experience including processors, memory controllers, and register maps. Required: Hands-on hardware bring-up and lab debugging experience. Required: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering. Advantage: Advanced degree and experience in machine vision, imaging, camera systems, or high-speed digital design. What we offer Opportunity to influence the architecture of advanced imaging products. Deep technical challenges spanning FPGA, firmware, and hardware. Collaboration across a global engineering community. A culture of knowledge sharing and technical excellence. Exposure to emerging FPGA technologies and design methodologies. Long-term engineering impact within Teledyne Technologies. What happens next Applications are reviewed by the recruiting and hiring team, followed by a recruiter conversation and interviews with technical and business stakeholders. Timelines may vary. Teledyne is an equal opportunity employer committed to building innovative technology through collaboration, integrity, and technical excellence. Salary Range: $114,200.00-$152,300.000 The anticipated salary range listed for this role is only an estimate. Actual compensation for successful candidates is carefully determined based on several factors including, but not limited to, location, local regulations (such as minimum wage), education/training, work experience, key skills, and type of position. Teledyne and all of our employees are committed to conducting business with the highest ethical standards. We require all employees to comply with all applicable laws, regulations, rules and regulatory orders. Our reputation for honesty, integrity and high ethics is as important to us as our reputation for making innovative sensing solutions.
