Job Title: Electrical Consultant (Transit Infrastructure) Location: Greater Toronto Area, Ontario (Hybrid) Positions: 1 Work Mode: Hybrid Employment Type: Contract (Up to 3 Years) Overview We are seeking an experienced Electrical Consultant to provide technical expertise in the review, design, commissioning, construction support, and constructability analysis of major transit infrastructure projects. Reporting to the Chief Engineer - Electrical, the successful candidate will collaborate with engineering teams, project stakeholders, contractors, and consultants to ensure designs and construction activities meet applicable standards, safety requirements, operational needs, and project objectives. Key Responsibilities Review existing electrical drawings, specifications, and site conditions to support project development. Conduct site visits to assess existing conditions, identify deficiencies, and gather technical information. Support electrical engineering reviews, designs, and construction activities for industrial and commercial electrical systems. Review shop drawings, equipment submissions, and contractor deliverables for compliance with project requirements. Evaluate third-party engineering designs and technical submissions for accuracy, completeness, and constructability. Assist in preparing technical specifications and engineering documentation. Perform constructability reviews to identify potential design and installation challenges. Support commissioning activities and construction inspections for high-voltage and low-voltage electrical systems. Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders to ensure project requirements are achieved. Participate in engineering studies and prepare technical reports and recommendations. Ensure compliance with applicable electrical codes, safety standards, and industry best practices. Conduct site inspections at transit facilities, including stations, substations, garages, maintenance shops, and track-level areas as required. Qualifications Required Experience Minimum 15 years of experience in industrial and commercial electrical construction and engineering environments. Proven experience supporting design reviews, construction activities, commissioning, and field inspections. Strong understanding of constructability, maintenance considerations, and cost-effective design solutions. Experience coordinating with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders. Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical reports, presentations, and project coordination. Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills. Preferred Certifications & Professional Designations One or more of the following would be considered a strong asset: Licensed Electrician (309A) in the Province of Ontario Membership with OACETT (Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists) Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Ontario Technical Expertise Strong knowledge of the Ontario Electrical Safety Code (OESC) and its practical application. Experience reviewing electrical systems for industrial and commercial facilities. Proficiency with: Bluebeam, Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Teams Work Schedule Flexible Monday to Friday schedule Approximately 22.5 hours per week (3 days per week) Core availability required between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM Hybrid work arrangement with regular attendance at project sites and office locations within the GTA Ability to attend site visits and meetings on short notice when operational requirements arise Additional Requirements Must be eligible to work in Ontario and travel throughout the Greater Toronto Area. Ability to conduct field inspections in active transit environments. Must obtain or be eligible to obtain required transit safety and track access training.
