Job summary

We are a growing junior mining company headquartered in Vancouver with assets in the United States. We are expanding our internal finance team and looking for a hands-on Senior Accountant who can take ownership of our day-to-day accounting and support our public-company financial reporting. This is a broad role in a small team. You might be working through month-end reconciliations one day and preparing consolidation schedules or responding to auditors the next. We are looking for someone who is technically strong, practical, and comfortable figuring things out. What You’ll Do Own monthly accounting and close activities across multiple entities. Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, bank reconciliations and balance sheet reconciliations. Maintain accurate general ledgers and well-organized supporting working papers. Support quarterly and annual consolidation and financial reporting. Prepare schedules and documentation for external auditors and respond to audit requests. Work with external financial reporting advisors on complex accounting and reporting matters. Help bring accounting activities currently performed externally in-house. Support Canadian and U.S. payroll and other corporate accounting requirements. Improve accounting processes, internal controls and finance workflows. Take ownership of new or unfamiliar finance-related issues as they arise. What We’re Looking For Canadian CPA designation or equivalent. Public accounting and/or public-company accounting experience. Strong month-end, reconciliation and working-paper experience. Experience working with external auditors. Exposure to financial statement preparation and consolidations. Strong Excel skills and comfort working across multiple accounting systems. A high level of ownership, initiative and attention to detail. Experience in junior mining, natural resources or another public-company environment is a strong asset. U.S. GAAP experience is helpful but not required. Most importantly, we’re looking for someone who doesn’t need to be closely managed. You should be comfortable getting into the details, investigating unfamiliar problems and knowing when to solve something yourself versus when to bring in technical expertise. Why Join? You’ll have meaningful ownership within a growing public-company finance function and work closely with senior management, auditors and experienced external financial reporting professionals. This is a strong opportunity for someone coming from public practice who enjoys financial reporting but wants to get closer to the business and own the accounting end-to-end.
