Internal The Corporation of the City of St. Thomas - Valleyview Home has a temporary vacancy for a: REGISTERED PRACTICAL NURSE (Temporary, Part-Time) Job Posting #1258-08-26 This UNIFOR position is responsible to the Director of Care. Reports to and under the supervision of the Registered Nurse Supervisor, assists with the assessment, implementation, planning and evaluating of the nursing care of the residents. Prepares and administers medications and treatments as ordered and approved by the physician and according to the Standards of Nursing Practice set by the College of Nurses of Ontario. Supervises and delegates duties to the Personal Support Workers. Promotes philosophy and objectives of the Home. EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: Must have a current registration as an RPN with the Ontario College of Nurses in good standing with no restrictions. Experience in medication administration and as an RPN in geriatric nursing. Must demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal in English. Must have current CPR and aseptic techniques. Five (5) years post graduate experience in active and/or geriatric Nursing. Skills in leadership, planning, coordinating and supervising the work of other nursing staff would be an asset. The above is illustrative and not all inclusive.
