Company: Davey Tree Expert Co. of Canada, Limited Locations: Colborne, Ontario Additional Locations: NA Work Site: On Site Req ID: 228053 Position Overview As a Arborist Apprentice/Driver with Davey Tree you will be responsible for ensuring the crew and equipment arrive at the job site safely and on time. Once at site you will join the rest of the crew as an Arborist Apprentice; providing your in-depth knowledge and skills to ensure the job gets done right and on time. Job Duties Drive a commercial truck with crew and equipment to various job sites as required. Perform and log daily pre and post trip inspections of the vehicle. Maintain cleanliness of the truck, keeping interior and exterior of vehicle free of debris. Operate as an active crew member with supporting ground crew and crew leader. Perform all aspects of tree pruning and removal services safely and skillfully for clients. Including but not limited to: Pruning, thinning, and removing deadwood throughout the tree canopy. Installation of cables, bracing and lightning protection systems. Removal of hazardous trees. Properly maintain, prepare, and operate all tools and equipment including chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts and more. Assist the trimmers and foreperson in job site setup, debris removal and cleanup. Abide by Davey and industry safety policies and procedures. Qualifications Valid provincial driver’s license. AZ or DZ license. Clean drivers abstract. Preferred background in Forestry, Horticulture or Landscaping. Arborist certification or willingness to work towards. Strong tree, knot and shrub identification skills. Understanding and implementation of the process of safely ascending tree canopies at all heights. Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs. Ability to work safely as part of a team and possess the willingness to learn and progress. Additional Information Full time. Year-round employment. $20-$25/hour.
