We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Accountant to join our growing team and oversee the financial operations of the company Calgary Fasteners & Tools Ltd. Position Overview: The Accountant will be responsible for overseeing all accounting, financial reporting, and internal controls for the location. This role will involve managing the financial operations of the business, ensuring accurate and timely reporting, compliance with accounting principles, and providing leadership and direction to the finance team. The Accountant will work closely with the Corporate Controller to develop and execute financial strategies that support the company’s growth objectives. Expertise in NetSuite is preferred for managing the company’s financial systems and reporting. Key Responsibilities: Financial Reporting & Analysis: • Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements, including monthly, quarterly, and annual reports. • Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and areas of improvement. • Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards (ASPE) and internal company policies. • Ad Hoc responsibilities to support a growing business including experience managing inventory accounting Budgeting & Forecasting: • Support the annual budgeting process and prepare financial forecasts. • Collaborate with department heads to monitor and adjust financial plans as necessary. Internal Controls & Compliance: • Establish and maintain strong internal controls to safeguard company assets. • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations, as well as industry-specific standards. Team Leadership & Development: • Manage and mentor a team of accounting professionals, providing guidance, support, and professional development opportunities. • Oversee and support accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general accounting functions. Cash Flow Management: • Monitor and manage cash flow to ensure adequate liquidity for operational needs. • Develop and implement strategies to optimize working capital and improve cash flow. System & Process Improvement: • Lead initiatives to streamline and improve financial processes and systems, utilizing technology to enhance efficiency. • Troubleshoot system issues and collaborate with IT or external consultants to implement system upgrades and improvements. Financial Planning: • Partner with the management team to develop financial strategies that align with the company’s goals. • Provide financial insights to support strategic decision-making and business expansion. Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. • CPA, or equivalent. • Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or finance.
