Job Title: Maintenance Lead (PCN 02-200-028) Employment Type: Temporary, Full-Time (to March 31, 2027) Type: Union Hours: Monday – Friday (8:00 – 4:00, or similar schedule) with availability for evenings, weekends, and occasional after-hours emergency repairs Position Summary The Maintenance Lead plays a key role in ensuring the safe, clean, and efficient operation of The Gathering Place's facilities. In addition to performing a wide range of maintenance and repair duties, this position provides day-to-day leadership, guidance, and coordination for maintenance staff. Key Responsibilities Perform general maintenance and repairs including drywall, painting, carpentry, flooring, ceiling tile work, and minor plumbing repairs. Prioritize daily maintenance activities, service requests, and preventative maintenance schedules, including day-to-day guidance and support for Maintenance Workers Coordination and oversight of contractors and service providers performing work on site. Conduct routine inspections of facilities, equipment, and building systems. Troubleshoot building maintenance issues and determine appropriate corrective actions. Monitor inventory of maintenance supplies, tools, and equipment and assist with ordering and procurement as required. Respond to emergency repair needs outside of regular working hours when required. Ensure all maintenance activities are carried out in compliance with occupational health and safety standards and organizational policies. Perform other related duties as assigned to support facility operations. Qualifications & Skills Certificate in Carpentry, a Red Seal trade certification or equivalent combination of education and experience would be considered an asset. 3–5 years of relevant experience Previous experience leading, coordinating, or mentoring maintenance staff is an asset. Demonstrated proficiency in general building maintenance, including carpentry, plumbing, painting, and minor repairs to building systems. Ability to prioritize multiple projects and maintenance requests Knowledge of preventative maintenance programs and building safety requirements. Solid understanding of safe work practices and health and safety protocols. Valid driver's license. Clear Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check required. Equivalencies in education and experience will be considered. Closing Date: September 30, 2026

Requirements

Candidates should have 3–5 years of relevant experience and demonstrated skills in general building maintenance, including carpentry, plumbing, painting, and minor repairs. A carpentry certificate, Red Seal trade certification or equivalent experience, prior staff leadership experience, a valid driver's license, and clear criminal record and vulnerable sector checks are listed as assets or requirements.
