Job summary
We're looking for a Business Development Manager in the transportation industry based in Alberta. Our client specializes in open deck, heavy haul, and specialized transportation services across North America. This is a business development role focused on identifying new opportunities, building customer relationships, and growing revenue across Alberta. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing business with customers that require flatbed, step deck, RGN, oversized, and project freight solutions while selling on service, reliability, and long-term value. Business Development Manager Responsibilities: Identify and pursue new business opportunities across Alberta Develop relationships with customers requiring open deck, heavy haul, oversized, and specialized transportation services Build and manage a pipeline of qualified opportunities Expand existing customer relationships and uncover additional freight opportunities Sell premium transportation solutions based on value rather than price Work closely with operations to ensure successful service execution Maintain accurate pipeline, activity, and customer information within CRM systems Monitor market activity, customer trends, and competitive opportunities The successful candidate has: 5+ years of sales or business development experience within transportation, heavy haul, open deck, flatbed, specialized freight, or related sectors Proven ability to generate new business and grow customer relationships Strong understanding of open deck transportation and customer requirements Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills Strong organizational skills and ability to manage a large territory independently Knowledge of cross-border transportation is considered an asset Willingness to travel within Alberta and occasionally throughout North America Compensation and benefits: Base salary of $100,000 to $120,000 plus commission and car allowance Comprehensive benefits package High level of autonomy and territory ownership Opportunity to join a growing organization with a strong reputation in specialized transportation Only candidates already eligible to work in Canada will be reviewed.
