Job summary
We’re looking for an experienced Project Manager in the civil construction industry. Our client is a well-established and growing Calgary-based construction company with over two decades of success delivering high-quality civil infrastructure projects. They’re searching for a driven and detail-oriented Project Manager to oversee civil construction projects from planning through completion. This role offers the opportunity to lead key projects, manage budgets and schedules, and play a crucial role in delivering successful project outcomes. Project Manager responsibilities: Serve as the main point of contact for clients, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams throughout the project lifecycle Plan, coordinate, and oversee civil construction projects from pre-construction through completion Develop, track, and manage project budgets, schedules, forecasts, and cost controls Review project scopes, drawings, specifications, and contracts to ensure project requirements are clearly understood and delivered Support estimating, tendering, bid preparation, and project handover from estimating to operations Coordinate permits, inspections, municipal requirements, and other project approvals Manage procurement of equipment, materials, and subcontracted services to align with project schedules and requirements Lead and document the change order process, including tracking scope changes, pricing, approvals, and supporting documentation Monitor project progress, financial performance, productivity, and costs, providing regular updates to management and clients Direct subcontractor and supplier activities to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and to required quality standards Review and approve supplier and subcontractor invoices in accordance with project contracts and completed work Identify and proactively address project risks, delays, cost concerns, and scope changes Ensure projects comply with applicable safety, environmental, municipal, and regulatory requirements Maintain accurate project documentation, including contracts, schedules, budgets, change orders, progress reports, and project closeout records Support project closeout, deficiency resolution, final documentation, and client handover Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance project delivery, efficiency, and profitability The successful candidate has: 3–5 years of experience managing civil construction or infrastructure projects Experience with project estimating and bidding processes Strong proficiency with project management and construction software Prior use of B2W estimating software is considered an asset Knowledge of municipal construction practices, ideally within Calgary and surrounding regions Strong understanding of civil construction processes, scheduling, cost control, and subcontractor coordination Excellent problem-solving, communication, and decision-making skills Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment A collaborative, adaptable mindset with a focus on results and accountability Compensation and benefits: Competitive salary based on experience and qualifications Comprehensive benefits package Performance-based bonus Company vehicle or vehicle allowance Opportunities for career growth and advancement Supportive and collaborative work environment Candidates must be eligible to work in Canada.
