Job summary
As an Area Manager, you are responsible for leading the commercial performance and strategic growth of an assigned territory. Reporting to the Regional Director, you oversee a team of Account Managers and Sales Application Managers who work together to deliver profitable revenue growth, exceptional customer experience, and sustainable market expansion. You act as both a strategist and an operator, translating regional priorities into actionable commercial plans. This role leads customer engagement, opportunity management, and key commercial decisions while ensuring close collaboration with Technical, Operations, and Commercial teams. The Area Manager plays a pivotal role in strengthening market presence, ensuring customer needs are met with integrity, precision, and value. Key Responsibilities Lead, coach, and develop Account Managers and Sales Application Managers to achieve annual revenue, margin, and collection targets. Translate regional business objectives into local sales strategies, ensuring consistent and measurable commercial performance. Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, decision-makers, and industry stakeholders to strengthen brand positioning and customer loyalty. Oversee all commercial activity within the territory, including pipeline management, pricing strategy, and opportunity prioritisation to ensure profitability and growth. Partner closely with Technical and Operations teams to align customer expectations with design, delivery, and service capabilities. Drive commercial discipline through effective CRM usage, accurate forecasting, and proactive pipeline management. Review and approve major proposals and contracts, ensuring technical and commercial accuracy, appropriate risk assessment, and compliance with internal policies. Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and customer feedback to identify opportunities and inform regional strategy. Ensure strong cash flow management through active involvement in collections, credit reviews, and resolution of customer disputes. Promote a customer-first mindset across functions, ensuring responsiveness, solution orientation, and service excellence in every interaction. Foster collaboration across departments to ensure seamless project execution from concept through completion. Represent the organisation at key customer events, trade shows, and industry forums to strengthen market visibility and brand presence. Promote and reinforce a strong safety and compliance culture across all commercial activities. Education and Experience Post-secondary education in Business, Engineering, or Construction Management (or equivalent experience). 7–10 years of progressive experience in B2B sales, account management, or commercial roles in construction, engineering, or industrial sectors. 3–5 years of leadership experience managing sales, technical sales, or account management teams. Proven track record of delivering revenue growth, margin improvement, and effective territory management. Strong understanding of construction solutions such as formwork, shoring, or related systems (preferred). Experience working cross-functionally with Operations, Technical, and Project Management teams. Proficiency in CRM systems and Microsoft Office Suite. Strong negotiation, financial acumen, and communication skills. Demonstrated ability to lead change and drive accountability through data, insight, and coaching.
