Job summary
Join a high-paced bookkeeping services company with the opportunity for leadership. Core Bookkeeping & Accounting Manage full-cycle bookkeeping for a portfolio of clients (AP/AR, bank reconciliations, journal entries) Review and finalize month-end and year-end closes Prepare and review financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow) Oversee payroll processing and ensure accuracy of remittances Communicate financial insights clearly to clients (not just numbers, but what they mean) Assist accountants with tax preparations and audits as required, post the year end entries and verify account balances Lead audit preparation, including: Preparing audit-ready working papers and supporting schedules Coordinating with external auditors and responding to audit requests Compliance & Filings Prepare and review CRA remittances (HST/GST, payroll source deductions) Ensure deadlines for filings and payments are consistently met Stay current on tax law/CRA policy changes that affect client accounts Conduct monthly, quarterly and annual reviews of customers’ files in QuickBooks Online Manage all customers’ accounts in compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), standards and regulatory requirements Maintain an orderly filing system Quality Control & Review Review work completed by junior bookkeepers for accuracy before it goes to clients Catch and correct discrepancies, reconciliation issues, or coding errors Maintain consistency in chart of accounts and bookkeeping standards across clients Client Management Support client onboarding — setting up books, migrating data, establishing processes Perform and assist with the set-up of customer files, processes and administrative planning Handle escalations or sensitive client conversations (like billing issues or service changes) Assist customers with preparation and implementation of budgets Maintain high communication standards with customers Assist customers with the use of QuickBooks, online apps and filing systems Perform other duties as assigned from time to time by the President Mentorship & Training Supervise and train junior team members to improve their skills, confidence, product knowledge, and communication skills Serve as the primary point of contact for Junior Bookkeepers Delegate tasks and ensure the quality and accuracy of work performed by the team Review junior staff's work and provide feedback Systems & Tools Implement consistent accounting policies, practices and procedures across all customer accounts Document processes and workflows Identify and recommend improvements to accounting processes and procedures Evaluate and recommend new tools/software as the practice grows Requirements 5+ yrs experience in bookkeeping Excellent knowledge of general accounting principles, government requirements related to sales tax, income tax, payroll regulations and financial reporting Ability to train Junior bookkeeper, management skills College or university degree in bookkeeping, accounting or business administration Advanced level of certification in QuickBooks Online Additional Information The Mason Group is committed to fostering a diverse, inclusive, and accessible recruitment process. Requirements
Requires over 5 years of bookkeeping experience and a degree in accounting, bookkeeping, or business administration. Must possess advanced QuickBooks Online certification and strong knowledge of government tax and payroll regulations.
