Status - Term (1 year) In your role as Strategic Pricing Analyst at The North West Company (NWC), you will be responsible for the execution of NWC pricing strategies, overseeing required pricing adjustments, and providing summary of financial performance metrics. This includes making retail decisions that adhere to established strategy, along with modeling of alternative outcomes as to support effective decision-making. Check out northwest.ca for more information. Your Role: Uses the DemandTec Pricing tool to execute the category pricing strategy defined by the Category Managers (CMs). Assigned to specific banners and categories, collaborating with CMs to gain in‑depth understanding of each category’s pricing approach. Provides informed recommendations and constructively challenges CMs to ensure strong, banner‑aligned pricing strategies. Completes weekly price updates for assigned categories and reviews outcomes with the Category Manager. Analyzes weekly competitive checks and provides recommended pricing adjustments. Executes the category pricing strategy for Special Ship items. Works collaboratively with the Category Manager and Pricing Manager to establish and achieve category strategies, performance metrics, and financial goals. Oversee the timely delivery of competitive price indices and retail updates in coordination with the Pricing Coordinator and Pricing Manager. Manages the prompt execution of Special Ship pricing in partnership with the Pricing Analyst and Coordinator. Desired Skills & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Data Science, Economics, or a College Business Administration diploma combined with 2+ years of relevant experience Experience in analytical roles with strong technical capabilities, including Excel, PowerQuery, Access, and SQL. Demonstrates excellent critical thinking and problem‑solving abilities. Skilled in facilitation and presentations, with a proven ability to build and manage effective relationships. Highly organized with strong time‑management skills. Possesses strong financial acumen. Ability to quickly learn new concepts, systems and industry best practices and apply these learnings to the continued development of the team/ support of the business. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral. Ability to prioritize and accomplish work independently and within a team to meet deadlines. Exceptional organizational and time management skills; and, Ability to work well individually with minimal supervision, as well as part of a team. Requirements
Candidates should hold a Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Data Science, or Economics, or a Business Administration diploma with over 2 years of relevant experience. Proficiency in technical tools such as Excel, SQL, PowerQuery, and Access is required.
