Job Description: POSITION PURPOSE SUMMARY: The Salvation Army Christmas Kettle Campaign is part of a century old tradition to contribute towards building strong communities by helping TSA to give hope to other. Kettle Coordinator II position is a short-term contract position. The incumbent is responsible for oversight of several Christmas Kettle locations in a given geographical zone area. Zone locations include shopping malls, grocery stores and retail outlets. ACCOUNTABILITIES: Promote, co-ordinate and oversee kettle locations in Fort McMurray Responsible for arranging the delivery and pick-up of kettles to/from sites daily, ensuring the security of donations. Coordinate the schedule for kettle volunteers and respond to emergency absences, etc. Make rounds at kettle locations to ensure kettle is staffed as per policy. Fill in as necessary at kettles to cover breaks or late arrivals, etc. Ensure that kettle locations have adequate supplies of literature, giveaways, etc. Counting kettle income daily. Responsible for the recruitment, orientation and performance management of kettle workers/volunteers. Work alongside kettle workers/volunteers. Contact churches, schools, businesses and other organizations to fill volunteer spots on kettles. Foster and maintain positive working relationships with volunteers and businesses hosting kettle locations. Maintain accurate records of volunteer’s information. Prepare and send out appropriate Thank You letters to groups and volunteer hours for students. Post campaign prepare an overall report on the campaign Retrieve and store all equipment/supplies from various kettle locations post campaign. Maintain accurate statistical data using the Kettle System. Perform other position related duties as required. CRITICAL RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT: Governance Boards and Councils: n/a Internal: TSA staff members, Kettle campaign team External: Community members MANAGERIAL/TECHNICAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Reports directly to the _____. Direct reports: none. Workflow coordinator. FINANCIAL AND MATERIAL MANAGEMENT: • Collect donations and ensure donations are always kept secure. The above responsibilities must be discharged in accordance with The Salvation Army’s Mission Statement, in a professional manner, upholding our code of conduct. WORKING CONDITIONS: • Work environment is typically in malls/stores • Some standing for long periods will be required and exposure to cold weather - Winter driving within city EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: • Willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities. • Work in compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and abide by The Salvation Army’s health and safety policies and procedures. Alternative combination of education and Experience may be considered. Education, Qualifications and Certifications: • Some high school coursework, completion of high school is an asset Experience: • One year of related experience or working in customer service • Money handling experience is an asset • Related experience is an asset Skills and Capabilities • Valid driver’s license and a reliable vehicle required Excellent communication and interpersonal skills • Enthusiastic Team Player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills • Able to lift 9 to 12 kgs (20 – 25 lbs) • Strong customer service skills; enjoy liaising and working with people of all ages and abilities • Willingness to be flexible and work well under pressure with daily timelines and changing priorities • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality in the handling of donor, volunteer, and organizational information Compensation: The target hiring range for this position is $20.23 to $25.30 with a maximum of $30.35. Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
