JOB DESCRIPTION REPORTS TO: Quality Management Systems Manager JOB SUMMARY: The Food Safety Coordinator ensures that ingredients, packaging materials, finished products, warehousing facilities, manufacturing facilities and processes meet Company, Government, customer and third-party registrar requirements for quality, safety, sanitation, and legality. Please note that this is a fixed-term contract opportunity through April 2027, covering a maternity leave absence. RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide leadership and training to all Departments in food safety programs (BRC, HACCP, Organic, Kosher, GMP) Assist with daily/monthly inspections, GMP Audits, internal/external inspections, internal audits, root cause analysis, documented corrective and preventative actions and risk assessments High level of understanding of the Quality Management System and BRC Program Organize and coordinate the HACCP Team and meetings Collaborate with QA Team to set Departmental goals and develop Key Performance Indicators Assist the Quality Team to investigate customer complaints, collaborate with all stakeholders to determine root cause and implements changes to prevent further occurrences Maintain and update QMS and HACCP programs Report concerning product food safety quality and regulatory inspection are provided to the appropriate management personnel on a regular basis, highlighting problems proposing resolutions Work with Operations Team to take corrective action on noted GMP violations and CAPA’s Ensure that new products comply with appropriate safety standards and requirements, and assists in the establishment of appropriate quality standards for new products/processes Participate and support continuous improvement initiatives and other projects where QA supervision is required Assist with regulatory audits and inspections to ensure compliance with requirements of the corporate QMS in areas of responsibility All team members are responsible to report on food safety and/or quality problems to personnel with the authority to initiate corrective actions Other duties as assigned by the organization COMPETENCIES: Accountability Adaptability Communication Analytical Thinking Initiative Teamwork Problem-solving Detail-oriented Decision-making QUALIFICATIONS: University degree in food science or related field Quality Assurance experience in a food manufacturing facility is preferred Authoritative knowledge of SOPs, GMPs, HACCP and GMPs applicable to Quality & Compliance and Production.
