Role overview • Title: UX Designer • Location: Toronto, Ontario • Position type: On-site, 5 days per week • Role type: Contract • Duration: 1 year • Interview type: In person • Rate: CAD $60/hour • Years of experience: 6+ About the role We're looking for a UX/UI Designer to create simple, accessible, and visually appealing digital experiences for web and mobile. You'll own the design process end to end: research, wireframes, prototypes, visual design, and usability testing. You'll work closely with stakeholders, developers, and QA. What you'll do • Plan and run user research: interviews, surveys, and usability tests. • Turn research into sitemaps, user flows, journey maps, wireframes, mockups, and prototypes. • Design clear, user-friendly interfaces for web, mobile, and other digital channels. • Test designs with users and improve them based on feedback. • Lead design workshops and alignment sessions with stakeholders. • Work with developers and QA to make sure designs are built as intended. • Write clear design documentation and present your work to different audiences. Must-have requirements • Proven experience as a UX, UI, or Interaction Designer for web and mobile applications. • Strong portfolio showing GUI designs based on user behaviour and performance. • Hands-on experience with Figma, Canva, or similar design and prototyping tools. • Ability to lead UX projects, workshops, and stakeholder alignment sessions. • Experience working with cross-functional teams, including developers, QA, and business stakeholders. • Good understanding of what web technologies can and can't do. • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Nice to have • Experience designing to WCAG 2.1 AA and conducting accessibility testing. • Experience working with design systems and digital service standards. • Experience with complex projects, such as legacy systems or multi-level approval processes. • Experience designing services with attention to the emotional side of the user experience. • Public-sector experience is considered an advantage.

Requirements

Requires 6+ years of experience in UX, UI, or interaction design for web and mobile applications, a strong portfolio, and hands-on experience with Figma, Canva, or similar tools. Candidates should be able to lead UX projects and workshops, collaborate across functions, understand web technology constraints, and communicate effectively; accessibility, design systems, complex projects, and public-sector experience are advantageous.
