Position description The Town has seven (7) opportunities available for the contract position of Winter Control Labourer. This position will be performing manual labour and operating small equipment and vehicles to carry out the maintenance responsibilities of the Public Works Division related to winter control. This is a five (5) month contract position, anticipated to begin November 16, 2026, and end on April 9, 2027. Hours during this contract period are up to thirty-five (35) hours per week, weather permitted. There may be occasional overtime based on business needs. Job duties Performing manual labour as required, such as snow shoveling, transferring sand and salt to winter control equipment and other duties which are the responsibility of the department; Operating Town owned or rented small equipment and vehicles used for maintenance of municipal services, including snow and ice removal operations. Minor maintenance of the shop and yard, such as cleaning, painting, minor equipment repairs, and preventative maintenance of snow removal equipment. Assisting with winter control operations both during and outside normal working hours, including weekends and early mornings starting at 4 a.m. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Completed a minimum Grade ten (10) education. Valid G Ontario Driver’s License. Six months of pervious experience in the maintenance of municipal services is considered an asset. Demonstrate the ability to work independently and as a member of a team. Good communication and listening skills. Hourly range: $30.28 to $35.43 per hour, band 5 on the Town’s 2026 pay grid Qualified candidates are invited to apply no later than 4 p.m. on September 18, 2026.
