Job Posting Aquatic Instructor/Guard The Town of Penetanguishene is a picturesque bilingual community with a population of approximately 10,000, located on the southerly tip of beautiful Georgian Bay. The Aquatic Instructor/Guard will assist the Aquatic Supervisor and Aquatic Head Instructor/Guard to provide aquatics programs for the Town of Penetanguishene. Duties include but are not limited to: * Instruct learn-to-swim programs and such other swimming skill programs as may be required. * Assist in the supervision and in the organization of aquatic activities. * Instruct and educate all groups and individuals concerning the rules of the pool, and to enforce these rules. * Assist with the maintenance and cleanliness of the facility and equipment as required. * Maintain adequate records and (a) reporting class progress, (b) class attendance, (c) test sheets, (d) students passing and (e) other report forms as required. * Bring to the attention of the Aquatics Supervisor or designate, any safety concern or case of a student unable to keep pace with the class in order that this person may receive special assistance or be re-evaluated. * Endeavour at all times to work as a team with supervisors and fellow staff. * Be thoroughly familiar with emergency procedures, to teach same to class members and to carry them out in emergencies. * Attend and take active part in staff meetings and training. * Provide excellent customer service at all times and promptly report any concerns of customer dissatisfaction to the Aquatics Supervisor or designate. * To perform other duties as and when requested by the Aquatics Supervisor or in his/her absence the Director of Recreation and Community Services. Required Qualifications: * Life Saving Society Bronze Cross * Current National Lifeguard Service preferred * Life Saving Society Instructors or equivalent would be an asset * Current Standard First Aid and CPR “C" * Police reference check is required. * Availability for varying shifts, evenings and afternoons are required. * Automated External Defibrillator skills would be considered an asset. * Waterfront certification would be considered an asset. * Written and oral French language skills would be considered an asset * Experience teaching swimming classes would be considered an asset * High Five Principles of Healthy Child Development (PHCD) is an asset Compensation: The current pay for this position is $19.22 (2025 rate) per hour.
