Position Summary: As a member of the interprofessional team the Patient Care Assistant assists with the provision of care and performs duties under the direction of Regulated Health Professionals in accordance with hospital standards, policies and procedures. Delivery of meal trays, provision of mealtime assistance as required (opening packages, positioning of patients) Charting (meal consumption, Braden Scale, etc.) Assisting, under the direction of regulated Health Care Professionals, with ambulation, toileting, bathing and personal hygiene functions Provides physical assistance to patients as required by assisting with lifts and transfers Performs various patient care duties & related non-professional activities necessary in meeting patient’s personal needs and comfort and documenting as required. The Patient Care Assistant provides direct physical support to patients, including assistance with hygiene, ambulation, and mealtime needs under the direction of regulated health professionals. They also maintain a clean and safe environment by disinfecting equipment and documenting patient care activities.

Candidates must possess a Grade 12 diploma and a Personal Support Worker Certificate, or equivalent internal certification. Current BCLS and CPR certificates are essential, along with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
