This position has a term length of 1 year plus 1 day, with the possibility of extension. Location - This role is in-person. Work primarily takes place at North Campus Edmonton. As a key contributor to the communications and marketing efforts for iSMART [https://smartinstitute.ca/] and Smartwear Revolution [https://smartwearrevolution.com/], you’ll help shape how our innovative research is shared with the world—planning and executing campaigns across social media, web, print, and traditional media. You’ll manage and update project and lab websites, support event and tour planning, prepare surveys that inform strategy, and contribute to grant applications and reports with strong writing and editing skills. RESPONSIBILITIES Communications and Marketing 60% * Support the creation, implementation, and continual updating of the marketing and communication strategy for iSMART and Smartwear Revolution * Conceptualizes and develops integrated communications strategies, ideas, and opportunities. * Develops key messages and strategies to communicate complex information to multiple audiences and constituencies which align with the priorities and brand. * Regular posting and organizing of social media posts for both iSMART and Smartwear Revolution * Liaise with Faculty Communications Department for media events and opportunities * Support website construction & maintenance * Reporting on social media and website analytics * Event planning and executions * Creation of presentations, pitches, and marketing collateral as required * Support creation of promotional materials * Creation of multi-use slide deck to promote iSMART and Smartwear Revolution * Research and attend events to promote iSMART and Smartwear Revolution Website Design and Maintenance 30% * Maintaining iSMART and Smartwear Revolution * Website content updates, creation of new posts and pages, sharing news and events, add and removal of outdated pages Administration 5% * General Administrative Support to Staff members of the iSMART and Smartwear Revolution * Task Management (assignation, deadline creation, priority level) * Lab Tours Optimization * Event Planning * Preparation and Administration of Surveys * Meeting Minutes and Action Items * File Organization * Other Administrative Duties as Required Documentation 5% * Create, Review, Edit, and Format Project Documents (ie: templates, introduction packages, role descriptions) QUALIFICATIONS * Bachelor’s degree; public relations, communications, marketing or some combination of related education and experience * Demonstrated excellent communication skills required; presentation and pitching abilities preferred * Experience with event planning and executions * Experience with brand coordination and brand management * Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills * Competent and efficient; ability to multitask, take initiative with tasks, and work effectively both independently and in a team environment * Demonstrated expertise with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access), Google Suite, project tracking and team communication programs * Experience and skills in the creation and/or maintenance of websites preferred * Demonstrated proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite is preferred (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) and Canva * Excellent spelling, grammar, editing and proofreading skills required * Strong background in diversity and inclusion, emotional intelligence and community engagement required * Experience with social media platforms * Experience with graphic design and video editing preferred Application Instructions Click "Apply Now" to submit your resume, cover letter, and portfolio.
