Career Opportunities (sapsf.com) General Purpose The University of Guelph Ridgetown Campus’ REACH location is hiring for the role of Equine Chore Assistant for the upcoming year (September to April). The successful individual will be working under the Equine Facilities Coordinator, overseeing the equine students in the barn during morning and evening chores. Duties and Responsibilities Directly overseeing all student horse handling and assisting where needed. Enforcing safety protocol. Maintaining a professional and disciplined environment. Requirements Secondary School education, with 9-12 months working experience. Fostering skill development of students of all skill levels. Problem solving and making decisions under pressure. Strong understanding of horse health and welfare. Ability to handle hot horses in a calm and effective manner. There are AM and PM shifts available. Weekends will be required. Morning shifts are 3 hours (5:30am-8:30am) and evening shifts are 2 hours (5:45pm – 7:45pm). Preferred availability is both shifts, consideration will be given for AM availability only. Hours are approximately 10 hours each week but will vary depending on availability, not to exceed 24 hours per week. This position is located at the REACH Center in Clinton, Ontario.
