The Agronomy Assistant is expected to support in field research trials (replicated small and medium plot trials) including a wide range of disciplines such as cultivar evaluation, including but not limited to soybeans, wheat, corn, oats, barley, canola, forage crops. The Agronomy Assistant will assist with final field data collection, harvesting, and processing of the samples. Some assistance with the planting of the fall crops will also be required. Requirements * A 2-year diploma or an undergraduate degree in agriculture or related field or the equivalent education and experience. * The incumbent should have, at minimum, 9 months of experience or be willing to learn to work in the field, and demonstrate ability to work around field and research equipment in a safe manner. * Familiarity with Microsoft office programs. * The physical strength and stamina to work in the field under various weather conditions; ability to lift 30 pounds. * Able and willing to work outside in a wide range of weather conditions. * Demonstrated ability to work individually and as part of a team. * A Class G Driver's License is required. * Completion of WHMIS training is required. * Completion of a Grower Pesticide Safety Course is considered an asset. Note: This position is located on site at the Ontario Crops Research Centre - New Liskeard. Successful candidates will need to live within commuting distance of this centre, as this is a 100% in person position.
