Reporting to the Manager, Systems Management, the Senior Analyst, Cloud Infrastructure provides technical work in support of cloud infrastructure, including Azure, AWS and related technologies required to support the University community. The incumbent is primarily responsible for analysis, design, configuration, development, testing, change management, and release management of cloud infrastructure services, including their support and maintenance. This position will contribute to projects and operational support of cloud-based technologies. Duties and Responsibilities Providing ownership and subject matter expertise for the University's Microsoft Azure environment, including strategic planning, architecture, optimization, and day-to-day operations. Collaborates with CCS teams and University stakeholders to understand business and technical requirements; collaborates on governance; leads the analysis, design, implementation, and continuous improvement of cloud-based infrastructure solutions; and ensures Azure services are secure, reliable, scalable, cost-effective, and aligned with institutional priorities and industry best practices. Supporting Azure AD/Entra ID infrastructure and related connectivity to hybrid AD systems and domains. Working with CCS teams and clients to transition from on-prem systems to cloud infrastructure where feasible and following the digital roadmap. Planning and performing updates required for cloud infrastructure, including analysis, implementation plans, configuration, development, change management and release management, coordinated with the University community, CCS teams and cloud vendors. Contributing to a knowledge management system that can be leveraged by CCS and the campus community and regularly reviewing and updating documentation relating to cloud infrastructure, services and architecture. Developing and delivering technical training relating to cloud infrastructure and architecture as required for the University community. Providing Tier 2 level support to cloud-based applications, infrastructure, architecture and technologies to resolve issues reported by the University community, and providing licensing and cloud provisioning support in collaboration with CCS teams. Proactively monitoring cloud infrastructure and architecture usage, maintaining backups and performing restores as required, and providing recommendations to improve cloud provisioning and architecture. Supporting cloud disaster recovery and backup processes, providing technical expertise and recommendations for improvements to these processes and services. Identifying areas and processes where cloud infrastructure can be better leveraged and facilitating process improvement. Staying abreast of industry trends, technological advancements and best practices in higher education systems and recommending continuous improvements to cloud infrastructure and architecture. Collaborating with cross-functional CCS Technology Operations team members in providing cloud infrastructure support. Identifying potential risks and vulnerabilities in cloud infrastructure and collaborating with the CCS Information Security team to implement security measures. Working with third-party vendors to implement robust solutions to streamline business processes. Requirements Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field. Minimum six (6) years of related experience demonstrating technical competence with cloud-based services and solutions. Extensive knowledge in administrating Microsoft Azure, including provisioning of cloud services, billing and networking concepts such as TCP/IP, DNS, VPNs, firewalls and load balancer technologies. Expert knowledge of operating systems, especially Linux and Windows Server environments. Familiarity with virtualization and containers, including VMware, Docker and Kubernetes. Supporting associate or expert-level certifications for cloud platforms, such as Azure Administrator Associate or Azure Solutions Architect Expert. Analytical ability and good interpersonal and communication skills. A good understanding of large post-secondary IT environments. Secondary expertise in at least one area of the IT spectrum, such as networking/telecommunications, cybersecurity, web services, database management, computer operating systems and hardware. Experience dealing effectively with third-party vendors and vendor support teams. Problem solving and ability to work independently. Any experience with the following will be considered an asset and should be highlighted in your application: Other cloud service providers, such as AWS or Google Cloud Platform (GCP). Experience with information systems such as hospital or clinical information management or medical record systems. Experience developing and delivering technical training.
