The opportunity: The University of Manitoba is looking for a Senior Accountant/Finance Officer. This is an exciting opportunity for a finance professional to play a key role in the financial management of capital and infrastructure projects. The position oversees project expenditure approval, forecasting, financial analysis and reporting, while ensuring compliance with audit and institutional requirements. Working closely with project managers, Corporate Finance and other key partners, the role provides financial advice, supports multi-year capital planning, and helps ensure capital projects are financially managed accurately and effectively. The qualifications and experience we’re looking for: Accounting designation (CPA) or equivalent is required. A minimum of 5 years of related experience at a senior financial level required. Must have a high level of knowledge in the area of financial management and comptrollership, with extensive experience in coordinating functionally-related areas. Must have a working knowledge of any provincial/federal Infrastructure fund programs that are supporting current projects and be able to produce financial information on eligible and non-eligible expenditures for Finance – Capital. Construction background or knowledge is preferred. A solid understanding of policies and procedures of the University and of the University financial accounting systems is preferred. Knowledge of the University computerized accounting systems will be considered an asset. An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Strong financial accounting skills required. Critical thinking and strategic thinking skills required. Leadership skills required. Written and oral communication skills required. Interpersonal skills are required. Organizational and management skills are required. Demonstrated ability to work effectively independently and in a team environment; deal with all levels of staff, administration and government is required. Ability to provide financial management structure and advice is required. Ability to handle stress well is required. High level of integrity, initiative and strategic planning is required. Requirements

A CPA designation or equivalent and at least five years of related senior-level financial experience are required, along with strong financial accounting, financial management, and comptrollership knowledge. Candidates must demonstrate analytical, leadership, communication, interpersonal, organizational, and strategic planning abilities; knowledge of infrastructure funding programs is required, while construction knowledge and familiarity with University systems are preferred.
