Why Upgraded? We’re building the App Store for AI Work—a unified platform that automates SR&ED tax credits and funding intelligence for startups. Our AI-first engine discovers eligibility, validates claims, drafts narratives, and prepares audit-ready documentation, all with minimal manual intervention. We're performance-driven: clients only pay when we deliver results worth their while. Canada’s SR&ED program is the country’s largest innovation incentive—over $3 billion/year in tax credits to more than 20,000 claimants. We're engineering software that scales expert tax consulting across hundreds of clients, delivering precision and scale. The Role — What You’ll Do Lead and shape the SR&ED experience end-to-end: Systematize SR&ED workflows: Leverage our AI to ingest development data, match against CRA criteria, and prepare draft claims. Client consultation: Work with engineering and finance teams to uncover eligible R&D activities and technical uncertainties. Narrative and evidence: Write technical project narratives (T661), map employee effort, allocate materials—produce complete, CRA-compliant submissions. Audit readiness: Ensure documentation is contemporaneous, structured, and defensible; assist clients during CRA reviews. Improve automation: Identify AI/data-driven opportunities—integrations, claim inference models, auto-generation improvements. Cross-functional impact: Partner with Ops, Revenue, and Dev teams to align client timelines and funding cycles around product development cadences. Who You Are 2+ years of SR&ED or R&D tax consulting experience (in firms, startups, or internal R&D teams) Skilled at unearthing scientific/technical uncertainty and building CRA-endorsed narratives. Confident with data pipelines and automation—comfortable with AI support tools A detail-oriented architect—ensuring precise documentation, proper employee-time tracking, and audit-ready outputs. Effective communicator across engineering, finance, and leadership teams Autonomous yet collaborative—able to lead from the front and iterate like a startup Why You’ll Love It Here Scale impact across the innovation economy: democratize SR&ED claims for tech companies using your systems and strategies Founder-level collaboration: work closely with Will Richman (operator with two exits), building systems that power AI-driven consulting Design the future of tax automation: build, optimize, and implement next-gen workflows—help define our GrantGPT capabilities Lean, high-trust environment: we’re founder-mode, outcome-focused, and free of jargon and hierarchy—where your work moves the needle Your Challenge Share one deliverable you’ve built—a technical project, claim draft, model, report, —and tell us in 1–2 paragraphs how you would improve a client’s SR&ED workflow from R&D activity to audit readiness.
