Urban Legal Recruitment is excited to be assisting our valued client, a highly regarded national law firm, in the recruitment of an experienced Litigation Legal Assistant to join its growing Vancouver office. This full-time, permanent opportunity will primarily support lawyers practicing in class action litigation. As our client has recently opened its British Columbia office, this is an exciting opportunity to join a small, collaborative team and play an important role in the continued growth of the office. Our client is seeking a bright, highly organized and exceptionally collaborative Legal Assistant with approximately five years of litigation experience, including experience working on class action matters. Given the close-knit nature of the Vancouver team, fit is extremely important. The successful candidate will be someone who enjoys working as part of a team, takes initiative and is genuinely willing to step in and help wherever needed. Position Summary The successful candidate will provide comprehensive legal and administrative support to lawyers with busy class action litigation practices. This role requires someone who can confidently manage complex files, competing deadlines and a high volume of documentation while maintaining accuracy, professionalism and excellent client service. Principal Duties and Responsibilities Provide comprehensive legal and administrative support on class action litigation matters. Draft, prepare, revise and format correspondence, pleadings, court documents, briefs, affidavits and other legal materials. Prepare and file documents with the British Columbia courts. Maintain and organize complex litigation files, including large volumes of electronic and paper documentation. Coordinate document production, discoveries, hearings, mediations, trials and other litigation-related matters. Monitor limitation periods, court deadlines and other critical dates. Manage lawyers’ calendars, schedule meetings and coordinate appointments. Assist with the preparation of hearing, mediation and trial materials, including electronic and paper briefs. Communicate professionally with clients, opposing counsel, court personnel and other external parties. Handle billing, time entry, expense reports and other administrative responsibilities. Work closely with lawyers, legal professionals and administrative team members across the firm. Provide additional support to the Vancouver office as required. Qualifications Approximately five years of experience as a Litigation Legal Assistant. Previous experience supporting class action litigation matters is required. Strong knowledge of litigation procedures, court rules and filing requirements in British Columbia. Experience managing complex files and large volumes of documentation. Strong technical skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office and document-management systems. A Legal Administrative Assistant certificate or equivalent education and experience. Flexibility to work in the Vancouver office four days per week. Desired Attributes Exceptional client service orientation with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
