Job summary
Controller 3-6 Month Contract About the Role We are seeking an experienced Controller to oversee all financial operations at our manufacturing facility. This role is a key business partner to plant leadership, ensuring accurate financial reporting and driving cost efficiency. Key Responsibilities Manage and maintain Bills of Materials (BOM) to ensure accurate product costing Oversee standard costing for labour, materials, and overhead; maintain and update cost standards Lead month-end and GL close processes, including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations Prepare and present variance analysis (purchase price, labour efficiency, overhead absorption) with clear commentary Partner with operations to drive cost reduction initiatives and improve financial performance Lead and develop a finance team, providing coaching, performance management, and workload oversight Deliver strong analytical insights on plant KPIs, margins, and operational trends to senior leadership Qualifications CPA designation (or equivalent) preferred 5+ years of progressive finance/accounting experience in a manufacturing environment Hands-on experience with BOM management, standard costing, and inventory accounting Proven ability to manage month-end and GL close cycles under tight deadlines Experience managing or mentoring a team Advanced Excel skills; ERP experience (SAP, Oracle, or similar) an asset Strong communication skills with the ability to translate financial data into operational insights DISCLAIMERS ----- This position for employment is for a current vacancy with Highspring’s client. Requirements
Requires a CPA designation or equivalent with over 5 years of progressive finance experience in a manufacturing environment. Must have hands-on experience with BOM management, standard costing, and leading finance teams.
