VP, Product & Engineering About the Company Venor is proud to partner with our client, an established B2B SaaS company, in the recruitment of a VP, Product & Engineering based in Fredericton, New Brunswick. The Opportunity Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the VP, Product & Engineering holds combined ownership of product direction and engineering delivery, and is the single accountable owner for how the company’s product gets defined, built, and shipped. You’ll partner closely with leaders across the organization to work through cross-functional trade-offs and make sure product priorities turn into high-quality, reliable software. Responsibilities Product Discovery & Strategy Execution • Own idea intake and problem validation, including AI feature ideas, making sure every initiative maps to an approved product pillar before it enters development. • Define problem statements and personas for all initiatives, including AI-driven features, and keep them aligned to product pillars. • Write high-level requirements and AI feature specifications, turning approved problem statements into requirements ready for engineering. • Provide input on portfolio prioritization across product lines. Engineering Delivery • Lead sprint planning and execution across the software development team, including AI feature builds. • Own pre-release review and internal user acceptance testing, so releases solve the intended problem before they ship. • Make release decisions across early adopter, standard, and late release stages. • Oversee bug and defect triage, including AI model drift and performance issues. • Measure results after each release and drive continuous improvement, so lessons from each cycle change how the team works. Architecture & Technical Risk Partnership • Work with technology leadership to identify architectural risk, including AI infrastructure and data risk. • Drive secure development practices and AI model validation, in partnership with technology leadership. Team Leadership • Build and lead a high-performing product and engineering organization, including the software development and product analyst teams. • Coach your team, manage performance, and raise the quality of decisions across all direct reports. • Set clear roles, responsibilities, and decision rights across the combined organization. Requirements • 7+ years of combined product and engineering leadership experience in B2B SaaS, with direct accountability for both product discovery and shipped software delivery. • Proven experience managing a Software Development Lifecycle end-to-end, including sprint planning, quality gates, and secure development practices. • Proven experience running product discovery and requirements processes, including customer research and validation. • Strong communication skills, with the ability to represent both product and technical trade-offs clearly to the CEO and senior leadership. • Comfortable operating as a senior leader reporting directly to the CEO, engaging directly with executive leadership on cross-functional trade-offs and escalations. • Proven people leader with experience managing both engineering teams and product/analyst teams.
