Role: Senior Data Architect – Databricks / Azure Location: Remote within Canada Client: Government Administration Contract: 6 Months + Extension Potential (up to 24 months) Hours: 36.25 hrs/week | Alberta Time Key Responsibilities • Define enterprise data architecture and target-state architecture • Design conceptual, logical, physical and Lakehouse data models • Architect Databricks Lakehouse solutions using Delta Lake, Spark/PySpark, SQL & Unity Catalog • Design enterprise integration using REST APIs, ETL/ELT, Event Streaming & CDC • Lead Azure data integration and cloud architecture • Design data flows involving geospatial/spatial data • Establish data governance, metadata, lineage, data quality and security standards • Define data contracts, API specifications and integration patterns • Collaborate with Data Engineers, Developers, GIS Specialists, Business Analysts and Product Owners • Provide technical leadership and architecture guidance to senior stakeholders Must-Have Skills • 7+ years in Data Architecture / Data Engineering / Data Integration • 3+ years as a Data Architect • Strong Databricks, Delta Lake, Apache Spark, PySpark & SQL • Unity Catalog experience • Strong data modelling — relational, dimensional & Lakehouse • Enterprise integration — REST APIs, ETL/ELT, Event Streaming, CDC • Microsoft Azure – ADLS, ADF, Event Hubs, Key Vault • ServiceNow Integration experience • Data governance, metadata, lineage, data quality & security • Enterprise architecture principles and best practices • Experience with geospatial data/platforms • Agile delivery experience • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills • TOGAF Certification • Government/Public Sector experience • Previous Government of Alberta (GoA) experience • PowerDesigner / ER Studio / ERwin / Rational Rose • Power BI / SQL Server / Cognos / MicroStrategy • Strong SQL Server, Data Warehouse & T-SQL experience • Experience leading Agile/Scrum application development projects

Requirements
Requires 7+ years of experience in data architecture, engineering, or integration, including 3+ years as a Data Architect, with strong Databricks, Azure, data modeling, integration, governance, and SQL Server expertise.
