The Procurement Manager is responsible for executing procurement strategies, managing vendor relationships, and overseeing the purchasing of materials and services. They also provide support to project management and estimating teams to ensure cost-effective and timely delivery of project requirements.

Job details

The Procurement Manager’s role is to execute and drive the procurement strategy for materials, equipment and services while building and maintaining business relationships with external stakeholders. The Procurement Manager is expected to integrate and implement best practices, in addition to maintaining a standard purchasing and receiving work process. The Procurement Manager will also be assigned multiple complex projects that they will be responsible for monitoring the purchasing the material, equipment, and services, as well as supporting the Estimating team during the bidding stage. As a support function to project management and the estimating team, the Procurement Manager will ensure cost effectiveness and timely delivery of long-lead items and 3rd party service. Responsibilities Manage a team responsible for the purchase of standard materials, supplies, tools, equipment, and services of a routine nature for field personnel and other employees as requested Communicate with the project management teams regarding purchasing issues and assist in implementing solutions Ensure procurement is completed in a timely and cost-effective manner. Coordinate and expedite delivery of materials as required Locate new sources of supply and maintain business relationship with existing vendors, as required Be a forward-thinking leader and mentor for the purchasing team, and implement the procurement strategy that aligns with company’s vision Follow and implement established limits, quality, quantity, and price guidelines Assess company requirements and develop specifications for material and services to be procured by the team Research materials for price and quality Invite quotes and review quotations on long-lead items Meet with manufacturing representatives and keep current on new products and their uses Provide regular reporting to senior management as and when required Liaise with field personnel. Assist in the return of unused goods and disposal of surplus material Assist in the development of processes, negotiating and executing master service agreements Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Engineering and/or 4-5 years purchasing experience is required Extensive experience in drafting vendor agreements including the ability to strategically assess and mitigate risks with vendors and suppliers Considerable knowledge of laws, ordinances and regulations pertaining to corporate purchasing practices Strong computer skills in a windows environment preferred. Experience in ViewPoint Construction Software is an asset Must possess working knowledge of the appropriate tools for grading, analyzing, and assessing materials, equipment, supplies, services, and other commodities A well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management skills would be an asset Extended Healthcare Plan (Medical, Disability, Dental) Group RRSP Group Life - AD&D - Critical Illness Insurance Training & Development Employee Assistance Program - Counseling
