We’re looking for a Lead Hand to join our team at our Duntroon location. Reporting directly to the Production Supervisor, you’ll be at the heart of our day-to-day operations—helping keep our processing plants safe, productive, efficient, and running smoothly. You’ll lead by example, support your teammates, troubleshoot challenges, and help ensure we consistently deliver high-quality aggregate products to our customers. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in aggregate, manufacturing, production, or a related industrial environment who is ready to take the next step in their leadership journey. Position: Temporary, 5-month contract Typical Schedule: Monday to Friday, morning and afternoon shifts, with Saturday work as required Wage: $34.80 per hour with afternoon shift premium What You’ll Be Doing * Coordinating daily production activities to ensure inventory levels meet customer and sales requirements * Monitoring plant performance and conducting routine inspections of equipment and machinery to maximize operational efficiency * Preparing daily production reports and communicating production results, including explaining any significant variances * Supervising contractors and consultants involved in plant construction, maintenance, or facility improvements * Collaborating with supervisors and team members to identify opportunities for operational improvements and increased efficiency * Participating in and promoting workplace health, safety, and environmental initiatives * Leading, mentoring, and supporting production team members to ensure work is completed safely, accurately, and efficiently * Providing guidance, coaching, and motivation while helping identify future training and development opportunities for team members Here’s What You Need * A minimum of two (2) years of production, manufacturing, aggregate, or related industrial experience * A valid Ontario Class G Driver's Licence * Demonstrated experience coordinating the work of a small team and providing constructive feedback and support * Strong verbal and written communication skills * Proven problem-solving abilities with the capacity to identify issues, analyze root causes, and implement effective solutions * A strong commitment to workplace safety, quality, and continuous improvement What’s in it for you * You become part of a team you can count on * A comprehensive total rewards package and benefits to support your wellbeing * Leaders who support your growth and success * A workplace that provides the best health & safety practices in industry * Give back to your community with two paid volunteer days annually and opportunities to become involved in events Working at Walker At Walker, your contribution matters.
