Job summary
Description We are looking for a rare combination — someone who can build a precise SolidWorks drawing, develop a sharp and accurate estimate, and build genuine relationships with clients. We build critical, custom equipment for demanding industries across North America — mining, forestry, energy, and automation. This role sits at the heart of our project workflow, from initial client conversation through to manufacturing. You will work closely with our engineering team and contribute directly to how we win and deliver work. This is not an entry level role. We are looking for someone with a minimum of 5 years of hands-on industry experience who already has relationships in the field and understands what it takes to win and deliver work in a demanding industrial environment. Existing contacts in mining, forestry, energy, or industrial sectors are not just an asset — they are a genuine differentiator for this role. Duties Prepare and maintain accurate manufacturing drawings for machining and fabrication projects. Develop project cost estimates based on drawings, material requirements, and production scope. Own quotes from preparation through to follow up — accurate, competitive, and turned around fast. Build and maintain strong client relationships as a trusted technical point of contact. Support the engineering team with drawing revisions, BOMs, and documentation. Liaise across engineering, production, and management to ensure estimates reflect real costs and achievable timelines. Maintain drawing and document control standards. Skills Minimum 5 years of experience in machinery, equipment manufacturing, custom fabrication, or a related industrial environment. Proficiency in SolidWorks and technical drafting for manufacturing environments. Proven estimating experience — comfortable building detailed, accurate cost estimates from drawings and scope documents. Existing industry contacts in mining, forestry, energy, or industrial sectors across BC, Alberta, or beyond. Mechanical Engineering Technologist diploma or related qualification — or equivalent demonstrated experience. Strong attention to detail and ability to read and interpret complex engineering specifications. Comfortable communicating across engineering, production, management, and client teams. Commercial awareness — you understand that a quote is not just a number, it is an opportunity to win work and build a relationship.
