Job summary
The full-time Education Supervisor is responsible for the development and delivery of all education programs and assisting management in all aspects of Marine Life operations. This is a 2-year contract position. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Planning, preparing, and facilitating all marine life department programming and activities. Ensuring Marine Life programming follows current Alberta Education curriculum. Planning strategies to reach broader audiences. Giving informative talks both within West Edmonton Mall and at other venues. Promote the Marine Life Department research and conservation initiatives to the public. Overseeing the hiring, training, scheduling, and performance management of the Education Facilitator and Presenters. Overseeing all administration of Education bookings and inquiries. Planning, researching, and writing promotional materials. Hands on interactions with specific ambassador animals. Sharing ideas with other zoo educators and other environmental education professionals by attending meetings and conferences locally and nationally. Organizing the CAZA required Education committee. Annual review of the Education Plan. Organizing care and maintenance of mall vans. Placing orders and maintaining inventory of store items. Other responsibilities as required. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Post secondary courses in the field of education with the minimum of an Education diploma as well as knowledge of the Alberta Curriculum program is an asset. Previous experience working in a zoo, Aquarium Environment, or similar position. Excellent presentation and public speaking skills with the ability to manage and control a classroom of children. Outstanding interpersonal skills, a professional demeanor and a high level of confidence in the workplace with previous experience leading a team. Ability to work successfully with professional education officials and teachers. Valid Class 5 Alberta Drivers’ License as well as First Aid and CPR. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: This is a 2-year contract full-time position that requires a flexible schedule Monday-Sunday including days, evenings, weekends & holidays. Must be able to pass a basic security clearance.

Requirements
