The Driller is an experienced crew member of the drilling rig crew responsible for overseeing drilling operations, operating equipment and supervising the drilling crew. This includes supervising and directing crew activities, operating the drilling rig and its components. This includes overseeing routine checks, documenting maintenance activities, and taking immediate corrective action when necessary. The Driller plays a key role in upholding safety protocols and preventing well control incidents. Duties and Responsibilities Operate and oversee drilling fluid systems, mud pumps, top drive systems, drawworks, pipe handling equipment and related drilling equipment. Ensure safety and support equipment is functioning properly Monitor drilling progress and communicate advancements and/or changes to Rig Manager Maintain accurate and up-to-date records Lead, instruct, mentor, and train crew members in safe work practices, drilling procedures, equipment operation, and rig maintenance. Ensure all protection systems, safety devices, guards, crownsavers, lockouts, and emergency systems remain operational and properly utilized. Identify workplace hazards and implement appropriate controls Participate in incident investigations if required and assist with corrective action implementation. Promote and maintain a safe, healthy, and environmentally responsible worksite. Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Previous drilling rig experience working in Driller position Strong leadership abilities in decisions and planning Strong communication skills Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills Strong mechanical aptitude Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination Certifications Required: H2S Alive Standard First Aid with CPR CSO (Common Safety Orientation) Fall Protection for Rig Work Rig Rescue for Rig Work preferred Confined Space & Rescue Boiler certification (Provincial Based) First Line Blowout Prevention (BOP) Ability to pass pre-employment testing Fluent in Written/Spoken English Be willing to work in all weather conditions and work environments with work away from home for periods of time What we offer: Immediate Employee Benefits, including medical, dental and vision coverage Matched Savings Program – up to 5% Driller position is full-time seasonal position.
