Job summary
Aquatic Swim Lesson Volunteers assist certified swim instructors with a variety of swim lessons for children and provide active supervision to ensure the safety of all participants. Responsibilities: * Support the assigned swim instructor with safety supervision and management of children during lessons * Provide coaching, demonstrations, and support to children under instructor direction * Set out lesson toys/equipment in the appropriate spots before class starts and put them away after lessons * Model appropriate behavior during lessons: listen to the instructor, sit with the group during instructions, etc. * Enforce Westside pool rules and know how to assist in emergency procedures * Welcome participants and patrons, and direct questions to the Lifeguard/Instructor * Check messages and communicate regularly with supervisors * Log hours on the appropriate time sheet * Be reliable and punctual (arrive ready for shift in proper uniform). Qualities: * Willing to learn new processes and follow procedures * Enthusiastic, helpful, courteous, and comfortable interacting with children and families WORK TERM: * September – June. * Evenings and weekends. * 2 shifts/week. Shifts are 2-3 hours long. QUALIFICATIONS/ SKILLS REQUIRED: * Between 13 and 17 years of age. * Completion of minimum Emergency First Aid with CPR C or Lifesaving Society Bronze Medallion Certification. * Completion of Volunteer Training – Provided by Westside.
