Volunteer Position About Whistler Adaptive Whistler Adaptive Sports Program Society (WAS) is a leading adaptive sport and recreation organization serving the Sea-to-Sky corridor and beyond. Through year-round programs, trained coaches, volunteers, equipment and financial support, WAS creates opportunities for people with disabilities and neurodiversity to participate in sport, recreation and the outdoors. As WAS enters its next chapter of growth, guided by a new strategic plan, we are seeking committed and experienced individuals to join our Board of Directors. The Role Board Directors provide strategic leadership, governance and oversight to help ensure WAS remains financially sustainable, mission-driven and positioned for long-term impact. Directors work collaboratively with the Board and Executive Director to: · Set and oversee strategic direction and organizational priorities. · Provide financial, legal, risk, and governance oversight. · Support fundraising, philanthropy, and revenue development. · Build relationships with donors, sponsors, community partners, and government. · Act as ambassadors and advocates for WAS and its mission. · Provide guidance and support to the Executive Director. · Contribute expertise, perspective, and networks to key organizational initiatives. As WAS enters its next chapter of growth, we are seeking committed and experienced individuals to join our Board of Directors. Who We’re Looking For We welcome diverse backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives. Previous adaptive sport experience is not required. We are particularly interested in individuals with experience in: · Legal, contracts and insurance · Fundraising and philanthropy · Partnerships and sponsorships We are looking for people who bring good judgement, integrity, collaboration and a genuine commitment to inclusion and access to sport, along with the willingness to contribute their expertise and networks to WAS. We encourage Board members to support the organization through their expertise, leadership, networks, and advocacy, recognizing that philanthropy remains an important component of our success! Commitment This is an unpaid volunteer position. Directors are expected to attend regular Board meetings and the AGM, prepare for meetings, participate in committees or strategic initiatives as appropriate, and contribute to fundraising, advocacy and community engagement. Board meets 4- 5 times a year with two in person meetings. Why Join the WAS Board?
