Required Qualifications · Graduate of an accredited Veterinary Technician/Technology program · Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) in good standing, or eligible for registration · Minimum 1 year of hands-on experience in a small-animal veterinary clinic preferred · Comfortable handling and restraining dogs and cats of different sizes and temperaments · Strong communication, organization and record-keeping skills · Ability to work efficiently in a busy clinical environment · Reliable attendance and punctuality · Ability to work the advertised schedule, including Saturdays/evenings Clinical Responsibilities The successful candidate should be comfortable performing or assisting with duties including: · Patient restraint and handling · Venipuncture and blood collection · IV catheter placement · Preparing and administering medications as directed by the veterinarian · Anesthesia preparation and monitoring · Intubation and perioperative patient monitoring · Surgical patient preparation and recovery · Dental prophylaxis and dental radiography where appropriate · Digital radiography · Collection and processing of laboratory samples · Urinalysis, fecal testing and basic in-house laboratory procedures · Preparing samples for outside laboratories · Inpatient nursing and treatment · Wound and bandage care · Maintaining accurate medical records · Assisting veterinarians during examinations and procedures · Client education regarding veterinarian-directed treatment plans, medications and preventive care · Cleaning, disinfection and maintenance of clinical equipment and treatment areas · Inventory and stocking as required Experience with AVImark or another veterinary practice-management system is an asset. What We Are Looking For Technical skills are important, but so are reliability and attitude.
