Position Overview Under the general supervision of the Manager Health Services - Operating Room (OR), and while demonstrating a commitment to the Mission, Values and Management Philosophy of St. Boniface Hospital, the Slating Clerk is responsible for: accurately scheduling all patients requiring elective and emergency surgery; entering data regarding the patient’s surgery into the computer system; receiving and relaying information required by all members of the surgical team and patient care areas; maintaining the desk and supply area; and performing other related duties as assigned. Experience One (1) year related experience. Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate) Grade 12, or recognized equivalent. Successful completion of a recognized Medical Terminology course. Certification/Licensure/Registration Not Applicable Qualifications and Skills Keyboarding speed: 45 wpm. Knowledge of computer systems and proficiency in the use of common software such as word processing and spreadsheet applications. Ability to read, write, speak and understand English. Ability to retain information which is of a confidential nature. Polite and courteous telephone manner. Excellent interpersonal communication skills. Ability to adapt readily to fast-paced situations. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Requirements
Candidates must have a Grade 12 diploma or equivalent and successful completion of a recognized Medical Terminology course. One year of related experience and a keyboarding speed of 45 wpm are also required.
