Organization Yellowhead County Region Alberta Application Deadline September 30, 2026 before 16:30 Type Full Time, Permanent Category Social services Twitter Facebook Linkedin Send Save Print Description Position Summary Reporting to the Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) Supervisor, the Community Outreach Coordinator is responsible for the planning, coordination, delivery, promotion and evaluation of community-based programs and services that support seniors, caregivers, and vulnerable residents throughout Yellowhead County. The position services as the primary coordinator for community outreach initiatives, senior's supports, the Home Support Program, the Community Volunteer Income Tax Program (CVITP) and public education workshops. Position Responsibilities Preventative Programming Develop and deliver personal development and informational workshops and programs that focus on strengthening people's abilities to function effectively in their families and communities. Workshops and programs include but are not limited to the Community Volunteer Income Tax Program, Senior's Appreciation, Caregiver/Alzheimer Support Group, and Indigenous Wellness Sessions; Liaise with regional and local agencies to coordinate preventative programming in the service area; Coordinate activities that help people develop an awareness of social needs in the community; Evaluate programs and services provided; Information and Referral Develop and maintain a current inventory of social and community services and resources available to residents; Advise individuals and families on the resources and services available to them and act as an advocate on their behalf when required to access these resources; Assist individuals completing applications for services as required; Maintain client confidentiality in accordance with applicable legislation and organizational parties; Community Development Identify emerging social needs and service gaps within Yellowhead County; Participate in community needs assessments and strategic planning initiatives; Develop and maintain partnerships that enhance services and reduce duplication; Facilitate collaboration between community organizations, service agencies, and volunteers; Administration Prepare and present agenda items and board reports to the FCSS board; Maintain current files on program activities and individual client support; Assist in the development of the Community Outreach annual budget; Prepare and distribute promotional information for Community Outreach programs through news releases, advertisements, mail-outs and interviews; Coordinate the Home Support Program, including the supervision of casual staff, assessment and intake of clients and completion of records and billing process; Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of the position; Requirements Qualification, Knowledge, Skill & Ability Requirements Education/Experience Post secondary degree in Human Services, Social Work, Community Development or related field; Two (2) years' experience working in the social services is considered an asset; Valid Class 5 Alberta Driver’s License; Completion of Defensive Driving certificate; Valid Standard First Aid and CPR certification; Demonstrated experiences planning and organizing activities considered an asset; Knowledge of regional resources to appropriately and adequately provide referrals is considered an asset; Knowledge, Skills And Abilities Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; Strong interpersonal and presentation skills: must be comfortable facilitating programs and presenting to groups of varying sizes; Ability to deal with people in difficult situations; Strong and effective written and oral communication; Police Record Check including Vulnerable Sector with satisfactory results; Driver's Abstract with satisfactory results; Working Environment Work is primarily conducted in an open office environment; Work may be conducted in private homes or public buildings throughout the County from time to time; Travel throughout Yellowhead County is required; Work may be conducted in groups in community settings; and Working alone in the community is required; Salary & Benefits The salary range is currently $75,167 to $93,208 per year.
