Job summary

Reporting to the Manager of Child Care Services, the After School Care Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day leadership and operation of the Out of School Care program for the Rose Valley Elementary School. This role combines program leadership, staff supervision, family engagement, and operational oversight to ensure YMCA standards, licensing requirements, and best practices in child care are consistently achieved. As the After School Care Supervisor, you play a critical role in creating high-quality experiences that help children learn, grow, and build meaningful relationships. This position also strengthens families and communities by ensuring programs are safe, welcoming, and responsive to the diverse needs of participants and caregivers. WHAT YOU WILL DO You will provide leadership for the successful operation of an Out of School Care program while supporting staff, children, and families. * Lead the daily operation of the Out of School Care program in compliance with YMCA policies and licensing requirements. * Supervise, coach, and support educators and program staff to deliver exceptional child care services. * Create and maintain engaging, age-appropriate programming that promotes children's social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development. * Foster positive relationships with children, families, schools, and community partners. * Support staff recruitment, onboarding, training, scheduling, and performance management. * Monitor program quality and implement continuous improvement initiatives. * Ensure a safe, healthy, and inclusive environment for all participants. * Manage program documentation, records, incident reporting, and regulatory requirements. * Assist with budget management, supply ordering, and resource allocation. * Promote YMCA values of caring, honesty, respect, responsibility, and inclusion in all aspects of program delivery. WHAT YOU BRING * Must be 19 years of age (as per Provincial licensing standards). * Complete Responsible Adult Certification- 20 hours of professional education in Child Development, Health, Nutrition, Safety, Behaviour Guidance or Early Child. * Valid First Aid Certificate with CPR level B or C. * Several years of experience working with school-aged children in licensed child care or recreation settings. * Previous supervisory or team leadership experience. * Strong knowledge of provincial child care licensing regulations and best practices. * Experience building positive relationships with families and community stakeholders. * Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. * Proficiency with Microsoft Office and child care administration systems.
