Job summary
The YMCA of Southern Interior BC is seeking an energetic and service-oriented Health & Fitness Coach to join our team at the Downtown YMCA. This role supports members in their health and wellness journeys by providing fitness coaching, facility supervision, member engagement, and exceptional customer service. As a key member of the Health, Fitness & Aquatics team, you will help create a safe, inclusive, and motivating environment where participants of all ages and abilities can thrive. WHAT YOU WILL DO Support members in achieving their wellness goals while maintaining a safe, engaging, and inclusive fitness environment. * Provide exceptional service and create positive member experiences. * Build relationships with members and support their health and wellness journeys. * Conduct fitness orientations and introduce members to YMCA equipment and services. * Provide basic fitness coaching and exercise guidance within YMCA standards. * Monitor the fitness centre to ensure safe and appropriate equipment use. * Promote member engagement, retention, and participation in YMCA programs. * Respond professionally to member inquiries and concerns. * Maintain cleanliness, organization, and presentation standards within fitness areas. * Support program delivery and special events as required. * Follow all YMCA safety, emergency, and risk management procedures. * Contribute to a culture of inclusion, respect, and belonging. WHAT YOU BRING * Current CPR-C and Standard First Aid certification (or ability to obtain before start date). * Recognized fitness certification or enrollment in a related fitness, kinesiology, recreation, or health program is considered an asset. * Previous customer service experience. * Experience in a fitness, recreation, wellness, or community-based environment is an asset. * Experience working with diverse populations is considered an asset. * Strong interpersonal and communication skills. * Ability to motivate and encourage individuals with varying fitness levels. * Demonstrated commitment to health, wellness, and active living. * Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
