The company maintains a quality system based on ISO 9001:2012 standards. Role Description The Journeyman Machinist role is a full-time, on-site position located in Surrey, BC. In this role, the machinist sets up and operates CNC and conventional machines to produce medium to large precision components to specification, including reading and interpreting engineering drawings and work orders. Day-to-day responsibilities include selecting tools, performing machining operations, monitoring dimensions, and maintaining tight tolerances, as well as inspecting parts using measuring instruments and documenting results. The machinist will collaborate with the production team to optimize machining processes, troubleshoot issues, and support both custom and production runs, while maintaining a clean, safe work environment and following company quality procedures aligned with ISO standards. The role may also involve coordinating with internal staff regarding outsourced services such as heat treatment and finishing to ensure parts meet all project requirements. Qualifications Strong CNC and conventional machining skills, including setup, operation, and adjustment of machines for medium to large components. Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, blueprints, and work instructions, with accurate use of measurement tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges). Experience with Mastercam Experience working to tight tolerances and following quality control procedures, ideally in an ISO-based environment. Solid troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities related to machining processes, tooling, and materials. Journeyperson Machinist certification or equivalent formal training and experience in a machine shop setting. Open to 3rd or 4th year apprentice Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety, housekeeping, and adherence to shop policies and procedures. Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with reliable attendance and time management skills. Experience with large fabricated items is an asset.
