Zaber is looking for a Mechanical Engineer with a knack for creative problem-solving and the drive for continuous improvement to join our fast-growing Sustaining Engineering Team. In this role, you'll proactively identify and pursue opportunities to drive product refinements that push our technological capabilities forward. The Sustaining Engineering team works hands-on with precision motion control and automation hardware and is relentlessly resourceful in finding ways to make our products better. We ensure that we learn from product failures and systematically apply the lessons learned to improve products in production. We find innovative ways to leverage new technology, manufacturing processes, automation, and economies of scale to improve the performance and reduce the cost of our products over time. Zaber makes cutting-edge, precision robotics for industry-leading customers. Your work on the Sustaining Engineering team will help make this a reality. As a Mechanical Engineer, you will: Use your engineering skillset on projects such as product feature additions, new product variants, cost savings, performance and quality improvements, and root cause failure analysis. Gain experience in the design and production of precision positioning equipment and robotics. You will learn the nuances of designing and building devices that accurately control position down to the nanometre. Work with experienced mechanical engineers and build or further develop strong engineering fundamentals, including mechanical design, analysis techniques, DFMA, material properties, tribology, and more. Lead and manage projects from conception to release. You will own and oversee the changes you implement throughout the entire design process. Collaborate across teams with experts in mechanical design, customer applications, manufacturing, electrical engineering, software development, firmware, and supply chain. Work in our well-equipped CNC and manual machine shop, making prototype parts, test, or assembly fixtures. (You will also have access to the shop for personal projects!) You’re the ideal Mechanical Engineer if you have: Strong hands-on and troubleshooting skills with mechanical systems. A curiosity-driven mindset and a desire to learn and continuously improve. Motivation and drive to solve constraint-driven engineering problems. A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Engineering Physics, or similar. Experience in project management and product design, mechanical design, or manufacturing environments. Mechanical Engineer Wage The starting wage for the role ranges from $33 - $55/hour depending on experience. Type: Full-time, Permanent, Onsite.
