Job Overview: ZenaTech is looking for talented Screenwriters to work on multiple feature film scripts for our new studio division, ZenaStudios, working with our creative team in Vancouver, BC. The initial concept for the films comes from company leadership; these roles will help carry them through every stage of the writing process, developing feature-length screenplays and working under the direction of a Senior Screenwriter. We need people who understand feature film structure, character development, and how to write dialogue and scenes that hold up on camera across a full run-time. You will work closely with the Senior Screenwriter, producers, and director to develop scripts that are clear, engaging, and ready to shoot. A strong portfolio of feature film scripts or TV script samples is required. This is a full-time, on-site role in Vancouver, BC. Key Responsibilities: Screenwriting: Write and revise scenes, sequences, or full drafts of feature-length screenplays under the direction of the Senior Screenwriter. Contribute to story structure, character arcs, and dialogue across multiple films.[DS1] Research subject matter as needed to ensure the scripts are accurate and grounded. Incorporate notes from the Senior Screenwriter, producers, and director across multiple rounds of revision. Story Development: Participate in the writers' room, breaking story, pitching ideas, and workshopping scenes. Help develop treatments, beat sheets, and outlines that support the screenplays. Provide script coverage and notes on drafts as needed. Production Collaboration: Support the Senior Screenwriter in ensuring the scripts are shootable and aligned with the production's budget and schedule. Participate in table reads and creative reviews. Provide revision pages and be available for rewrites through pre-production and production as needed. Creative Collaboration & Process: Partner closely with the Senior Screenwriter, producers, and director from concept through to final delivery. Participate in briefings, brainstorms, and creative reviews, contributing ideas beyond the written word. Manage your assigned scenes, drafts, and deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Incorporate feedback constructively and revise scripts efficiently through multiple rounds of review. Maintain a well-organized record of drafts, treatments, and notes for ongoing reference. Core Requirements: 3–5 years of professional screenwriting experience, including feature film or TV scripts. Strong portfolio demonstrating feature-length screenwriting. Solid understanding of three-act narrative, character arcs, and dialogue. Excellent research skills and ability to quickly understand and accurately represent subject matter. Outstanding written communication with a sharp eye for story, pacing, and character. Ability to take direction and notes from a lead writer, producer, or director and revise accordingly. Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple drafts and deadlines simultaneously. Collaborative by nature, with a positive attitude toward feedback and iteration. Nice to Have: Produced feature film credit(s), or a screenplay that has been optioned or set up with a producer/studio. Experience working in a writers' room. Familiarity with film production workflows and an understanding of what works on set. Experience with script coverage, treatments, or pitch decks. Diploma or degree in Screenwriting, Film, Creative Writing, or a related field. Artificial Intelligence We use artificial intelligence to review and screen applications and materials. However, every candidate we move forward with is reviewed and selected, and all final hiring decisions are made by a member of our hiring team.
