Job Title: Project Engineer – Integrated Naval Communications Systems Job Description The Project Engineer will provide technical project coordination and leadership within multidisciplinary teams to deliver a modern integrated naval communications system. Working closely with hardware, software, electrical, and systems engineering groups, this role ensures that project objectives are met, technical deliverables are completed on time, and customer requirements are fully addressed throughout the project lifecycle. Responsibilities Analyze customer requirements and technical objectives to support effective project execution and solution development. Coordinate systems, hardware, and software engineering activities to ensure project milestones are achieved on schedule and within scope. Track, manage, and support the completion of technical deliverables across the entire program lifecycle. Facilitate clear and timely communication between engineering teams, project leadership, customers, and other internal and external stakeholders. Support project planning activities, including resource utilization, workload prioritization, and schedule development. Develop, maintain, and review technical documentation and project records to ensure accuracy, completeness, and traceability. Monitor project progress, identify potential technical issues or risks, and help drive resolution of technical challenges. Collaborate closely with manufacturing, supply chain, and test teams to ensure successful product build, integration, and delivery. Participate in technical reviews and customer discussions, providing project support, status updates, and technical input as required. Contribute to ongoing improvements in engineering processes, tools, and execution practices to enhance efficiency and quality. Essential Skills Minimum of 5+ years of experience planning and coordinating engineering projects, including schedule, budget, resources, work allocation, and stakeholder management. Knowledge and experience in systems engineering processes, including requirements definition, architecture, integration, testing, and validation. Experience in aerospace, defence, military, or naval environments. Basic knowledge of project management principles and practices. Experience with integrated communication systems. Ability to analyze complex technical requirements and translate them into actionable project plans. Strong coordination and communication skills for working with multidisciplinary engineering teams and stakeholders. Eligibility to obtain and maintain CGP, ITAR, and Secret Level II security clearances (with the ability to start with Reliability clearance). Currently hold or are eligible to obtain Level II (Secret) Security Clearance. Additional Skills & Qualifications Bachelor’s degree and 4+ years of related experience, or Master’s degree and 2+ years of related experience, or 8+ years of relevant engineering experience in lieu of a degree. Knowledge of or experience with control account management. Familiarity with project governance, budgeting, scheduling, and resource management. Experience working on large-scale defence or naval programs is an asset. Ability to contribute to continuous improvement of engineering processes and tools. Work Environment This role is based in an in-office environment, with a standard schedule of five days per week on site. You will work within multidisciplinary engineering teams focused on integrated naval communications systems, collaborating closely with design, manufacturing, supply chain, production, test, and verification groups. The position offers the opportunity to support major defence programs and provides long-term employment potential as a contractor and/or full-time employee. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Ottawa, ON. Pay And Benefits The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $70.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
