It can heal us, entertain us, and make us more connected, productive, and understanding of the world around us. And we’re looking for talent who feel the same: people who want to leave the planet better than they found it, those who don’t shy away from humanity’s challenges but are determined to help solve them. AMD is powering the next generation of supercomputing, high-performance computing, cloud, and AI. Whether you’re designing next-gen processors, enabling AI breakthroughs, or creating go-to-market plans, every role at AMD contributes to something bigger — technology that moves the world forward. The Role AMD is seeking a Server Systems Assembly Manufacturing Engineer to drive manufacturing excellence for our growing Data Center GPU (DCGPU), Machine Learning, and Artificial Intelligence products. In this role, you will work closely with AMD design and engineering teams, Contract Manufacturers (CMs), ODMs, CEMs, and suppliers to ensure products are designed and implemented with manufacturability, technical capability, quality, and capacity in mind. You will play a key role in new product introduction (NPI), manufacturing process development, and sustaining engineering across our global manufacturing partner network. This role will help advance AMD's assembly processes by applying innovative manufacturing technologies, industry best practices, and solutions for New, Unique, Different, and Difficult (NUDD) assembly methods, materials, components, and technologies. The Person The successful candidate is a hands-on manufacturing engineering professional who thrives in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment. You are comfortable working across geographically distributed engineering, supplier, and manufacturing teams and can effectively lead technical discussions and drive issues to resolution. You bring strong technical judgment, excellent communication and problem-solving skills, and the ability to operate independently while managing changing products, suppliers, priorities, and responsibilities. You are comfortable working under schedule pressure and can serve as a trusted technical expert and liaison between AMD and our manufacturing partners. Key Responsibilities Lead implementation and optimization of PCBA and server system assembly processes for NPI and high-volume manufacturing. Manage DFx activities in partnership with internal engineering teams and external manufacturing partners to identify and mitigate manufacturing risks and ensure required technical capabilities are in place. Drive ODM/CEM manufacturing partners to achieve product quality, yield, and operational targets. Develop, manage, and maintain manufacturing operational procedures and processes across AMD and manufacturing partner sites. Develop efficient manufacturing assembly processes, including workflow, methods, materials, equipment, and detailed work instructions. Lead engineering and technical meetings and cross-functional manufacturing projects. Provide Design for Manufacturing (DFM) input to engineering design teams to improve manufacturability, product quality, and cost. Provide technical support for production issues, including failure analysis of discrepant components, assemblies, and field returns. Lead and participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on material cost reduction, capacity enhancement, process optimization, and supply chain efficiency. Serve as an owner and technical liaison between AMD teams and ODM/CEM partners to quickly identify, troubleshoot, and resolve manufacturing and yield issues. Develop and maintain effective working relationships with AMD engineering teams, manufacturing partners, suppliers, and other cross-functional stakeholders. Serve as a manufacturing technical expert, providing guidance and direction to AMD's CM partners. Support new product implementation and sustaining engineering activities at manufacturing facilities globally. Evaluate and support the introduction of new assembly methods, materials, components, automation, and manufacturing technologies. Travel as needed to support external manufacturing sites, suppliers, and partners. Preferred Experience Hands-on experience with high-volume server assembly, system manufacturing, or related technologies. Experience supporting new product introduction (NPI) for electro-mechanical assemblies, including DFx activities. Experience with PCBA and SMT assembly processes. Knowledge of manufacturing quality systems and quality tools, including 8D and Statistical Process Control (SPC). Experience working with ODMs, CEMs, contract manufacturers, and suppliers. Experience driving manufacturing yield improvements and resolving complex production issues. Knowledge of manufacturing process development, process control, and continuous improvement methodologies. Experience with Control Plans, PFMEA, APQP, IPC standards, and environmental compliance is preferred. Knowledge of Gage R&R, Six Sigma, and Lean Manufacturing methodologies. Experience with complex automation and robotics is an asset. Experience presenting technical information, manufacturing status, risks, and recommendations to senior management. Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across geographically distributed engineering and manufacturing teams. Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and adapt to changing products, suppliers, and business requirements. Proficiency with standard Microsoft applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and related productivity tools. Academic Credentials Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline is preferred.
