Role Description The Shop Coordinator is a full-time, on-site role based in Nisku, AB, responsible for supporting daily operations within the vehicle shop and yard. This position coordinates workflow between mechanics, drivers, and the front office, ensuring that vehicles are scheduled for maintenance, inspections, and repairs in a timely manner. The Shop Coordinator maintains records of work orders, parts usage, and service histories, while monitoring inventory levels for tools, equipment, and supplies. The role includes organizing vehicle staging and movement, communicating with customers and internal stakeholders on vehicle readiness, and supporting safety and compliance procedures. The Shop Coordinator also assists with prioritizing tasks, handling basic administrative duties, and contributing to a safe, efficient, and well-organized work environment. Qualifications Experience in shop coordination, fleet operations, or a similar role in transportation, automotive, or trucking environments. Strong organizational and time management skills to manage schedules, work orders, and inventory efficiently. Solid communication and interpersonal skills for coordinating with technicians, drivers, customers, and management. Basic mechanical or vehicle maintenance understanding to support planning of inspections and repairs. Proficiency with computer systems and software for data entry, record keeping, and scheduling (e.g., MS Office, fleet or shop management systems). Ability to work on-site in a fast-paced shop setting, including occasional outdoor work around vehicles and equipment. Commitment to workplace safety, adherence to company policies, and attention to detail in documentation and processes. High school diploma or equivalent; post-secondary education or technical training in automotive, logistics, or a related field is an asset. Previous experience in truck rentals, leasing, or fleet sales is considered an advantage.
