Job Description Allstate Canada Group (ACG) is looking for a Commercial & Privacy Counsel to join its Law & Regulation Department. We are looking for a creative and high energy legal counsel interested in working at the nexus of law, business, technology, data, and consumers. Reporting to the Manager, Innovation Law, this lawyer will be required to provide proactive, timely and strategic legal advice to senior business leaders and their teams, and will handle a broad range of commercial, contract, privacy and technology related matters. This role will have an opportunity to work on a wide variety of corporate projects across ACG and collaborate with other areas of the enterprise and local Law & Regulation Department. Successful candidates for this role will have significant experience in contract review, drafting and negotiation, and knowledge of commercial law, technology, privacy/data and AI. Knowledge of insurance legal and regulatory environment would be considered an asset. Accountabilities: Advisory: Work collaboratively with business and functional partners to provide strategic, practical and risk-based legal advice on a broad range of matters and initiatives, primarily in the areas of commercial, privacy/data, emerging technology and new technology products. Support regulatory response and strategy for privacy, security, and data programs and incident response/investigations. Research & Analysis. Perform complex research and analysis of new and/or pertinent laws, regulations and other legal authority, to determine applicability to, and impact on, business and enable action plan. Commercial contracts & Third Party Risk Management. Support contracting and procurement efforts across ACG, including structuring, drafting, reviewing and negotiating simple to complex agreements, such as service, technology, data privacy, partnership and sponsorship contracts. Collaborate with key stakeholders, including Sourcing & Procurement, Third Party Risk Management and enterprise Legal to enhance contract governance process, develop and maintain various contract templates and effectively identify and mitigate legal, contracting and regulatory risks. Data Privacy Program design & implementation. Provide expert legal advice in evolving ACG’s data privacy management program and collaborate with key stakeholders to implement and maintain key data privacy initiatives. Skills And Attributes For Success Experience in the following areas: commercial, privacy, data, technology, artificial intelligence and/or highly regulated sectors Ability to lead, collaborate and build relationships across multiple areas of the business Excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as advocacy Strategic and data driven mindset, with a proactive approach to working with the business Ability to partner and communicate effectively with business and functional stakeholders and to navigate competing priorities Creative, critical and analytical thinker; ability to interpret complex information and effectively translate into practical advice for business stakeholder Willingness to work in a dynamic and evolving business and regulatory environment Ability to adapt and integrate own experience with enterprise-wide strategy Continuous learning & improvement mindset Strong computer skills including knowledge of MS Office programs (e.g. Word, Powerpoint) Qualifications: 5+ years of demonstrated commercial, technology and/or privacy law experience Licensed to practice law in Ontario Member of the Ontario Bar in good standing French language ability an asset, but not required. Requirements

Applicants must have at least five years of commercial, technology, and/or privacy law experience and be licensed to practice law in Ontario as a member in good standing of the Ontario Bar. The role calls for strong contract, privacy, data, and technology knowledge, effective communication and collaboration, and the ability to provide practical advice in a changing business and regulatory environment; insurance experience and French are assets.
